Launched in May 2025, Safe & Sound strives to rehabilitate survivors of domestic violence by meeting their needs across the fronts of health and wellness, social reintegration, and economic independence.
Considering the sensitivity and nuance required to develop effective interventions in the context of an issue as this, the project will first collaborate with NGOs to understand the socioeconomic and psychosocial challenges suffered by those subjected to domestic violence. Accordingly, the project will bring out a Safe Space Volunteering Manual for volunteers who wish to help the survivors of domestic violence, by training the volunteers in key skills to furnish effective support. The project also aims to develop informational pamphlets to apprise women about the different accessible resources they can avail, like medical aid, legal support, free/subsidized child care support, and government policies that are available for their security. Additionally, we aim to develop learning resources to upskill survivors to allow them to enter the workforce.
We also plan to undertake fundraising, the proceeds of which would go towards building a network of psychotherapists and accredited counsellors who will aid the women survivors of domestic violence to begin their process of healing through safe and directed sessions. To raise awareness, the project also plans to organize an expert-led panel discussion where health professionals would discuss crucial matters like family safety and identifying warning signs against violence. Believing that it is crucial to document the lived experiences of the survivors of domestic violence, we aim to undertake an interview series with them to highlight this pressing issue and its under-addressed facets.
We believe that only through collective action, awareness, and compassion can we begin to build a future where no woman suffers in silence and every survivor is given the tools to rebuild their life with dignity and strength.
